Automotive, building, cool store, and many other industries use foam materials in various applications for temperature stabilisation and control.
Closed cell PE foam tubing is ideal for hot water pipe insulation. It is an excellent insulator while also being flexible. It comes in a large range of sizes. PE and EVA foams are also used to insulate around and on top of spas, placed directly onto the water.
Perhaps the best known insulator is polystyrene. It is used in walls, ceilings and sub floors in cool stores and areas where temperature control is required. It is very stable and long lasting, maintaining its effectiveness over a wide temperature range down to well below zero celcius. In some cases extruded polystyrene (XPS) will be a better choice than expanded polystyrene (EPS) in these applications.
