Foam Sales supplies custom-made foam products for pipe and tube applications, including purge dams, purge plugs and foam pigs. While often grouped together, each serves a different purpose depending on the application:
Purge Dams: Used in pipe and tube welding to isolate the weld zone and help reduce purge gas consumption.
Purge Plugs: Used to block or restrict flow through pipe openings.
Foam Pigs: Used for pipeline maintenance, including cleaning, drying and displacing liquids.
All items are made from firm flexible open-cell (N23-200 foam) with a closed-cell foam top. Our custom foam products can be manufactured to suit your application and internal pipe dimensions.
Custom Sizes & Options
Our foam purge dams and foam pigs are made to your required diameter:
A closed cell flexible PE30 10 mm Cap: Provides an additional barrier to the foam to prevent harmful welding gases from passing through the purge dam. Being air-tight and waterproof this barrier also pushes water and debris ahead of it when the pig is pulled through a pipe.
Rope and Wood Base Plate (Foam Pigs only): Enables the pig to be pulled through the pipe and retrieved as required..
To order, enter your required diameter and width in millimetres, select your preferred options and add any additional specifications in the notes field.
As a general guide, purge dams and foam pigs are typically made a few millimetres larger than the pipe's internal diameter. Please enter a diameter 2–5+ mm larger than the internal diameter of your pipe to allow for a firm fit. The appropriate oversize allowance for the dam or pig is usually around 2mm, plus 1.005x the internal pipe diameter in millimetres.
